The Sabbatical & Trustee elections are coming…
The most exciting week in the Union calendar is right around the corner.
This term sees the Sabbatical & Trustee elections.
These are the big ones, which elect the officers who run the Union on a day to day basis.
All students can run and it’s your chance to shape SUSU for the future, either by nominating yourself and running in the elections, or by supporting or voting for your favourite candidates.
These elections cover the full time paid sabbatical officers:
Union President
Vice President Communications
Vice President Academic Affairs
Vice President Welfare & Communities
Vice President Sports Development
Vice President Student Engagement
NB- These roles are normally undertaken the year after graduation but any student can take a year out of study to fulfil the role.We will also be electing the part time unpaid roles of:
Equality & diversity Officer
Ethical and Environmental Officer
Student Trustee (4 available positions)
NB- These roles are undertaken by students whilst also studying for their degree. The Committee organising the Elections have met, and approved the timings and rules for these elections.
I am therefore pleased to announce the ‘must know’ key dates.

So when are the candidates announced?

Sorry I was being a bit criptic.
The candidates are announced on the evening of Nominations closing (16th Feb)
There will also be a campaign briefing on the 16th to candidates stating the rules and how they can campaign (each candidate will receive a budget to spend on campaign materials).
Manifesto’s of the candidates are usually released on the webpage the next day, however this all depends on the number of candidates and how jazzed up with media they are.
Candidates are not allowed to campaign until the official start, online or physically but once it does you won’t be able to miss it.
