More updates on our Inspiring Women evening
This week we’ve been telling you all about our special Inspiring Women evening taking place on Monday 18 November at The Bridge. Kicking off at 6.30pm the free event will feature drinks, canapés, a selection of talks and the chance to question some amazing women.
Earlier this week we told you all about our speakers Tessa Harrison, Registrar, University of Southampton and Parvin Damani MBE (click here to have a read if you missed it.)
Today we’re finding out more about the other speakers Josephine Knowles, Suki Sitaram and our very own Chief Executive, Jaki Booth.
Josephine Knowles from anti Sexual exploitation charity, Beyond the Streets, has worked for many years in the area of Violence against Women. With experience as a volunteer, practitioner, trainer, consultant and student, the majority of her work has been working alongside women who have been sexually exploited. Most recently Josephine completed a Masters in ‘Woman and Child Abuse’.
Suki Sitaram is the Assistant Chief Executive at the Southampton City Council. With over 30 years experience of working in public service organisations, Suki’s experience includes strategic and operational management of a variety of services, such as community development, community safety, emergency planning and regeneration. In her current role, Suki has responsibility for a range of council functions including the council’s transformation programme, policy development, performance management communications.
And last but not least, our Chief Executive Jaki Booth has a long career in Students’ Unions, beginning as an Ents volunteer, through to Sabbatical Officer and senior manager. She took a brief break to run an arts centre and moved to her role in Southampton in 2009.
