Finding Work whilst Studying
Student employment is increasingly becoming an issue as more students struggle to pay their expenses. However, to find a job is time consuming and to fit a job around university studies can be tricky. This is why SUSU want to make sure all Southampton University students know where they can get help if they feel stressed because of financial difficulties, work pressures or if they would like help in finding or applying for work.
A good place to start is the Southampton University’s career events calendar where you can find events that are designed to help you excel in your career. http://www.student.careers.soton.ac.uk/eventcalendar/
If, for example, you know where you are applying, why not attend a 20 minute career consultancy session where you can have any relevant document (CV, covering letter etc) checked by an adviser. Remember to be quick to book appointment if you are interested as you must book on the day of the session and they are strictly on a first come first served basis!
SUSU understands that it can be difficult for students to commit to work when the very reason you are here is to get a degree! That’s why SUSU provides flexible employment roles where students can develop a variety of skills and feel assured that SUSU understands that their studies come first.
If you are interested in working for SUSU, check out the roles that are currently being advertised: http://www.susu.org/work-with-us/2011/
