In light of the upcoming EU Elections, SUSU invited a number of parties to a hustings event at the Bridge last

Thursday. As well as a chance to hear about party politics the event gave students the opportunity to raise

questions about particular policies and issues so as to make an informed choice on election day. The parties

which made an appearance were: the Liberal Democrats, Green Party, Labour Party, Conservative Party, the

English Democrats, YourVoice and the Socialist Party of GB. Each party’s representative was able to address the

attendees for a few minutes about what their main policies are, what makes their party stand out from the rest

and why students should care about the European Elections. This was followed by a ‘Q&A’ session led by VP

Engagement Claire Gilbert, which put individual representatives in the hot-seat. Students were then encouraged

to check their eligibility for the election at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk and if eligible, reminded to add themselves

to the electoral register by 6 May.
