Freshers’ Week: Sports Tasters
Calling all sporty types! Were you a champion at school or college, now looking to continue your glory days? Maybe you’ve never done any exercise in your life, and now you’ve decided to turn that around? (Good for you!)
This weekend will see a huge variety of Sports Tasters heading your way! Have a look below at some of the highlights below and get deciding on what you fancy!
• Vixens’ Cheerleading Squads
The Vixens have three squads: Competition, Dance and Game Day. They split their time between entering national competitions and supporting the Stags’ American Football Team on their game days.
• Figure Skating Club
A relatively new club to SUSU, the Figure Skating club welcomes all abilities. They head over to the local rink once a week to join in with a public session as well as entering members into a six-week Skate UK course in the Michaelmas term.
• Hillwalking Club
The area local to Southampton has some beautiful countryside, and these guys are devoted to exploring it – on Saturdays in term time they head out on day walks to local areas like Winchester, the Isle of Wight and the New Forest. They also run six away trips a year, visiting areas further afield such as Snowdonia, the Lake District and Cornwall.
• Pole Fitness Society
Gaining a lot of attention every year at the Bunfight, the Pole Fitness Society are all about fitness (it’s not difficult, the word’s right there In their name). Pole fitness is a great way to keep up an active lifestyle and improve your strength and flexibility.
