Creative Careers Season
This December is Creative Industries Careers Season in SUSU, with a wide range of Your Skills workshops tailored for those who want to pursue a career in the creative sector. With workshops including PR skills, social media self promotion, video editing and many more, there will be plenty of chance to learn more about future careers and the skills necessary to get students there.
11 Creative Industries based workshops are planned as part of the Your Skills line up for December, running between 1st and 11th of the month. With many SUSU alumni coming back to talk about their careers, the talks will be a great chance to find out first hand about career trajectory, preparation for the roles you can get at University, and graduate experience.
Careers in the creative sector are undoubtedly competitive, and workshops like the ones planned as part of the Creative Industries Careers Season will give SUSU members some excellent CV material, showing that they’ve taken an interest from early on and widened their skill base in preparation for the demands of the job.
Your Vice President of Democracy and Creative Industries, Megan Downing is very keen for the event. “The Creative Industries Careers Season is something that has been one of my main projects for my term as a Sabbatical Officer. Last year it was great, but this year it is looking to be bigger and better than ever with high profile speakers and a wide variety of sessions on offer. I am so passionate about employability and professional development so being able to host a careers season entirely dedicated to one of the fasting growing industries in the professional world is something I am so excited about. The sessions on offer will help students wanting to pursue a career in the Creative Industries get their foot on the ladder and gain some industry contacts while they’re at it.’
Some of the classes are already nearly fully subscribed. Students can sign up Here for the workshops they wish to take part in.
