Roundup of the Creative Industries Careers Season!
Specially established to support students thinking about a career in the creative industry, SUSU’s Creative Industries Careers Season ran from Saturday 29 November to Friday 12 December. The Creative Industries Zone aimed to further students’ experience in media in the arts with a number of relevant Your Skills sessions designed to train and inform attendees about creative careers.
The Your Skills workshops not only gave students lots to think about when considering a future in creative careers, but gave them something worthwhile and unique to put on their CVs. There were workshops specific to improving your writing skills, video editing and interviewing, as well as sessions designed to help students think quickly and creatively and an inspiring session entitled “From Music Student to Creative Producer” led by guest speaker Tom Nelson.
With workshops designed to teach students a particular skill as well as sessions designed to further one’s knowledge, there was something for everyone at the Creative Industries Careers Season this year.
VP Democracy and Creative Industries Megan Downing said “I’m so pleased with how the season went and really in awe of the sheer amount of enthusiasm we had from the students and the speakers, most of which were University of Southampton Alumni. I hope that the Creative Industries Careers Season will continue to get bigger and better each year.”
