ReFRESHERS is coming!

In General

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Refreshers Week is nearly upon us, and the line up is looking like an impressive way to kick-start the new semester and wind down after a busy exam season.

With many of the current favourites continuing, such as The Bridge Carvery, and Curry & Quiz on Sundays, and student favourite Laughter Lounge on Thursdays, there are also some new events to look out for. Steak Club is pretty self explanatory, a chance for all those with carnivorous cravings to come down to The Bridge and indulge in a steak. There is also a new event, #tellnoone, which we’re able to tell you is a chance for students to use the Bridge as a place to meet up before they go out to other events, for a relaxing drink and a chat in a student environment.

The Stags will continue its successful Karaoke nights, but also offer live music on the Friday of Refreshers week, and is again the venue for Superbowl Sunday (tickets for which can be bought at Reception or from The Stags Football Team)

The daytime will see plenty of events held all over SUSU, on Monday the Housing Fayre will offer students who’ve wisely waited the chance to learn more about the private rented accommodation in Southampton. On Tuesday there is Cultural Kitchen; a chance to learn more about food from different cultures which will appeal to the more culinary inclined members of SUSU. As well, there is Well-being Wednesday and Re-Minder day, both aimed at student welfare and an important part of Refreshers week following a time as stressful as exams, and as potentially daunting as the start of a new year. On Friday, students can also head to the Refresher’s Fayre to peruse the stalls and get info (and usually some freebies) from local businesses and nightclubs.

For nights out, there is the Oceana staple Student Therapy night on Wednesdays, but perhaps the two biggest and best events of the week are the “Life is a Cabaret” burlesque and cabaret evening, to be held in The Bridge and featuring some incredible outsider acts, and the headline act of the whole week Professor Green, who will perform in Garden Court on Monday night. His performance is sure to kick off the week in the right attitude, with a huge number of tickets already sold for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic gig.

Tickets to events that require them can be found at The Box Office, we hope to see lots of you there! You can also find details on all the events here.
