Elections Spotlight: Student Life Zone
Nominations for the annual SUSU elections have been open for over two weeks now, but with almost two weeks until they close you’ve still got plenty of time to nominate yourself. Whether you fancy running to be the president or are passionate about education, there will be a role for you!
As well as the sabbatical positions there are 31 part-time positions up for grabs, which you can hold whilst you’re still studying. Within the Student Life Zone there are three roles you could run for, including the brand new position of Housing Officer.
The three part-time positions in the Student Life Zone are Nightline Officer, Housing Officer and Wellbeing Officer. The Nightline Officer co-ordinates the activities of Nightline, provides the public face of the society (allowing the other members to remain anonymous) and chairs the Nightline Committee.
The Wellbeing Officer develops programs to enhance the wellbeing of members of SUSU, promotes physical and mental health improvements that could affect students’ lives and chairs the wellbeing committee. The newly created Housing Officer will work closely with the VP Welfare on housing campaigns and represents student issues surrounding housing on the Student Life Zone committee, as well as working to represent University of Southampton students’ views on housing locally.
It’s estimated that each role will take 10-15 hours per week, and the ideal student to run would be someone who really cares about the wellbeing service each role provides!Tags: Housing Officer, Nightline Committee, Student Life Zone, SUSU
