Elections Spotlight: Student Communities
Feel like your views aren’t being heard over at Winchester or the NOC? Are you passionate about positive change for international students? Well we have something that might interest you!
Nominations for the SUSU elections have been open for over two weeks now, and there are loads of different part-time positions you could run for. If you fancy running a radio station, working with SUSU to create housing campaigns or taking a lead on intermural sports, there’s a role for you.
Within the Student Communities Zone there are six roles you could run for, three of which are International Students’ Officer, Winchester Site Officer and National Oceanography Centre Officer.
The International Students’ Officer represents the interest of international students at the University of Southampton. They’re in charge of organising and coordinating the events and activities that will support and entertain international students, as well as liaising with the international student groups. Part of this role will be organising huge and exciting campaigns, so if you really want to sink your teeth into positive change for international students, this is the role for you.
If you study at Winchester, then you might be interested in the role of Winchester Site Officer. The role will involve representing the views of Winchester students within the University and Union and taking steps to ensure that there are accessible and welcoming services and activities for Winchester School of Art students.
Similarly, if you study at the NOC, the role of National Oceanography Centre Officer could be for you. Like the Winchester Site Officer, the NOC Officer role involves representing the interests of students who study at the NOC within the University and Union and offers an excellent opportunity to represent the NOC Students.
Each of these roles are part-time positions and it is estimated that they’ll take around 16 hours a week.
