Reading Time: < 1 minute

International women’s week began on Monday and throughout the next week and a bit (March 9 – 19) there are a whole host of interesting and informative events you could attend, including film screenings, lectures, careers panels and a performance of The Vagina Monologues by FemSoc. For the full listing of events you can visit the Facebook Event!

Speaking about the week, Equality and Diversity officer Sam Bailey said:

“It’s really exciting that we’ve got so many different events organised with FemSoc and International Women in Business to celebrate International Women’s Week. The aim is to not only celebrate women’s achievements around the world, but to inspire women to become leaders in the future. We’ll be tweeting throughout the week with posters of inspiring women that you’ve chosen – you can add someone you find inspiring using #inspiringwomensoton”.

Your VP Welfare, Beckie Thomas added: “I’m really looking forward to everything we have in store for Southampton students for IWW this year! However, there is a long way yet to go in the fight for gender equality. Men, I ask you to go and join the United Nation’s HeForShe campaign online, and women encourage your male friends and relatives to join too.”
