Positive Minds course to come to Southampton

In General

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The wonderful team at Southampton Student Minds have been hard at work, and have managed to secure funding to run a Positive Minds course at the university.

The Positive Minds course gives support to students that are suffering from depression and low mood, and is a peer-to-peer run scheme, meaning its run by students for students.

Speaking about the funding, VP Welfare, Beckie Thomas said: “I’m incredibly pleased to have secured funding to run the Positive Minds course at Southampton for our students, it has had great success in other areas of the country so far, and now we’ll be able to benefit from this brilliant proactive course. I highly recommend students get involved in volunteering as they’ll meet some great people with a similar passion, gain valuable skills to apply in a variety of careers, and be able to potentially help to change someone’s life.”

The course will run for 6 weeks, and takes students through 6 discussion sessions on different themes. These sessions will provide a safe space to discuss these topics, and aim to offer students with support networks, help them realise they’re not alone, and aid them in self-care.
