Are you ready to face The Launch Pad?
Fancy yourself as a bit of an entrepreneur? Need some funding to kick start your new venture? SUSU’s new business initiative ‘The Launch Pad’ might be the perfect opportunity for you.
This month, students will have the opportunity to bid for funding when they present their business ideas to a panel of experts. SUSU’s new initiative, ‘The Launch Pad’, invites students to pitch an idea and receive up to £75,000 if the panel likes their idea.
‘The Launch Pad’ was set up by the Students’ Union to give entrepreneurial students with a business venture in mind the opportunity to showcase their ideas to a panel comprised of University Alumni, Senior Staff and SUSU Trustees, and bid for funding of up to £75k on a loan, equity or small grant basis.
To enter, students are advised to spend a lot of time thinking through their ideas and preparing for the presentation as competition is expected to be tight. Students are reminded that it is fine to take risks and be creative – one skill of a successful entrepreneur is risk-taking – but at the same time to be realistic, as the panel need to decide the best, most feasible ideas to invest in.
More information about submitting your ideas and the different types of funding available can be found at susu.org/launchpad. The submission deadline for the first Launch Pad event is Tuesday 5 May, and the first event will take place on Tuesday 12 May. Good luck!Tags: creative, Launch Pad, Senior Staff, SUSU
