Stress Less Fest hits WSA!

In General

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Everyone wants to Stress Less, so make sure you leave time for these little perks during the hand-in period! From May 11 – May 29, SUSU will be bringing some fantastic Stress Less events to Winchester School of Arts (WSA.) First up: on 11 May you can take advantage of a helpful visit by a SUSU Adviser who will be coming to WSA to offer advice on your concerns and work or housing  and finance stresses.  Then, on May 12, we will be launching the Shift Your Stuff event, which is a quick and easy way of getting rid of your unwanted items such as clothes and furniture before the end of term rush.

On May 14 from 3pm, you’ll have the chance to craft some lovely origami models and sip on a tea or coffee at the WSA Café. (If this isn’t therapeutic I don’t know what is). Then, on 15 May if you missed the SUSU Adviser’s visit, they will be coming along again to address any worries you might have. And if you’re particularly stressed, fear not – on 18 May there will be two mini Mindfulness sessions lasting about 30 minutes each which will focus on relaxation and grounding. These will be taking place from 3:30 to 4:30pm; don’t miss out! (Special good luck to those of you who are handing in your coursework on May 18th, you’ll do great!)

On 19 May WSA will be having its own Swap Shop, where you can bring all your old unwanted clothes (washed, please!) and be able to exchange them for tokens which you can use to bag someone else’s clothes later in the day. The deadline to drop off your clothes will be 8:30am, and you can return to the Swap Shop from 11am to exchange your tokens for a new set of clothes! After you’ve had your fun swapping at the Swap Shop, from 6pm there will be a Quiz and Curry Night in the Café. So if you’re in need of a fun evening away from the stresses of work, come along and get quizzing!

All this hard work must be painful for your hands, so we’ve organised for a physiotherapist to come in and hand out hand massages! So handy! (I’ll stop now). So come in from 11am to 1pm on May 20 and treat yourself to a relaxing session and go away feeling refreshed. What’s not to love?

Next, on May 21 we’re holding our Stress Buster paint mural event. This will involve some paint filled balloons and a large sheet…you get the picture. This event will be held at River Park.  Even if you don’t want to get paint-happy you can come along and make the most of the hot weather, which in itself is a perfect stress-buster!

If you’re a final year student,  you have a busy few weeks left at WSA! There are still two fantastic Stress Less events that will help you wind down for the summer.

Love picnics? Then you’ll love our picnic and softball day in River Park at 3:30pm on 28 May. With all your Projects handed in, what better way to kick start the summer than with a picnic and games in the park? We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for good weather.

Alternatively, if you like Zumba or want to try it out we hope to have a Zumba demo in the WSA Café on May 29 so you can watch, take part and enjoy!

Finally, the term will come to an end with a delicious barbeque for all WSA students, to congratulate you on another successful year. The more, the merrier! Date and time TBC. In the meantime, we wish you all the best with your hand-ins and Final Projects, and we hope these little perks will help keep you going at such a hectic time!

p.s. some of these activities will need a sign up, keep up to date on facebook – The Union Winchester
