What’s coming up in Stress Less Fest

Stress Less Fest has already had an event-packed week, but our attempts to keep you free from stress throughout exam and hand-in season doesn’t end there. Over the next few weeks we’ve lined up a whole variety of events to look after your welfare! Continuing on from last week and running until 5 June, is the Safety Bus service, which you can catch from the Redbrick. They run throughout the night and take you straight home to your door, allowing you to work late on campus and still remain safe! We’ve also opened up more space for you to revise in (Click here to see where to revise)  Hartley Library will also be continuing to host the Academic Skills Hub during the weekdays, 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 on Level 2. The hub can provide you with links to resources the library has in stock, external resources and support within academic units and faculties. Perfect for if you’ve become stuck with revision or an assignment!

Beginning today is the Chill Out Hub on Concourse. It will run everyday, 11:00-14:00 on the Concourse until 5 June. On Tuesday and Wednesday this week take part in a De-stress and Stretch session in the Martial Arts Room from 9:45-10:30, if you can’t make it this week – there will be more sessions on 26 May and 2-3 June. In the same vein as De-stress and Stretch, you can also attend The Art of Calm, an event teaching methods of practising relaxation on 27 May, Building 04, Room 1035 from 13:30-14:15. Perfect for learning little tips and tricks for remaining calm in exams!

If it’s not relaxation, but a good distraction you need, SUSU have it covered. The always popular Petting Zoo shall be returning to the Red Brick on 22 May, 11:00-14:00. In the past few years the zoo has had animals from donkeys to ducks, we’re excited to see what cute creatures this year has in store! In addition to a Petting Zoo, new this year to Stress Less Fest is Pet-a-Puppy, coming to SUSU on 4 June on Red Brick 11:00-14:00. Organised with Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, you’ll be able to visit and pet the puppies! Please be warned that the event looks set to be popular, and we want to take care of the puppies’ welfare, so you may have to queue for your chance to meet the puppies. If animals aren’t your thing, Union Films will be showing the LEGO Movie on 24 May, 20:00-21:45 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 on 26 May from 19:00-20:40 – perfect for some easy-watching downtime. There will also be an Inflatable Day on Red Brick on 28 May, come along between 10:00-16:00 for some fun nostalgic of bouncy castle parties from your childhood! On 4 June, the Culture Cafe will be putting on a free afternoon tea style spread to compliment the exhibition, discussion, debate and networking event which focuses on art and culture! Last, but by no means least, on 19 and 26 June, there will be a Results Hub in the students group room along the corridor on from the Advice Centre in Building 40 to support you with any worries and answer any of your questions when you receive your marks!
