Business Ethics and Environment Students (BEES) is a joint initiative between SUSU and the Sustainability Action Programme at the University of Southampton, where students are trained to help local businesses make their practices more sustainable. They are hiring a summer intern to aid them evaluate the overall BEES project.
Throughout the project BEES have trained student volunteers in best sustainable practice, allowing them to go out and audit SUSU, the University and many local businesses throughout Portswood and Southampton.
The Role:
The research assistant role involves supporting the BEES team with the creation of their final report for the two-year funded project, as well as preparing to continue the programme into the next academic year. You will typically be collating and analysing the data and feedback provided by volunteers, audits, and the businesses involved. Further to this, you would also be involved in developing the BEES toolkit, so that the programme can be introduced into other student unions around the country. Finally you will be researching potential business leads to aid the BEES programme next year.
Duration:
This is a summer role based on a fixed term of 12 weeks between June and September 2015. Ideally you would be able to start on the 15th of June or as soon as possible thereafter. BEES anticipate that you would be required to work 35 hours per week, resulting in a maximum of 420 hours over the contract period. However this is a zero hour contract, meaning that some weeks you may be required to work fewer hours dependent upon work.
Pay:
£7.61 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
