Bright Club comes to Southampton
Researchers from the University of Southampton are bringing a touch of comedy to their research by launching Southampton’s very own Bright Club on Sunday 26th of July at the Avondale House pub.
This event will see a host of PhD and Postdoctoral researchers from the University presenting their research at a local venue through stand up comedy. The evening will be professionally compered and also headlined by a well-known comedian.
Bright Club (coined ‘the thinking person’s variety night’) began six years ago at University College London, London’s global University, as an experiment to put comedians and researchers from universities together on stage. Since then it has spread across the country from Belfast and Bristol to Glasgow and Guildford, and even Sydney and Melbourne!
Now it is Southampton’s turn…
Several students from the University of Southampton have banded together to make this a reality.
Proffessor Rob Eason, associate dean for research at Southampton said, “Physics and fun. Two essential ingredients of life that begin with the letter ‘f’.
If you don’t know the difference between a quark and a smirk then you need to get yourself to the next Bright Club event where all will be revealed. Bright Club: shining the light on scientific comedy.”
Tickets are available through www.brightclubsoton.uk and are £5 in advance, £6 on the door.
