Surge Radio nominated for two Student Radio Awards
The Students’ Union’s very own Surge Radio have been nominated for two Student Radio Awards (SRAs) 2015.
Our student-run radio station have been nominated for Best Live Event or Outside Broadcast for their coverage of the 48 Hour Marathon and for Best Newcomer, where Toby Leveson has been nominated for his contribution to the station from 2014-15.
The 48 Hour Marathon was broadcast back in March where Surge raised over £1000 for RAG and the Teenage Cancer Trust whilst broadcasting for 48 hours straight.
Surge Radio’s Station Manager, Dan Linstead says, “Being recognised by the Student Radio Association is a huge achievement and I could not be prouder both of Toby for his individual nomination and of everyone involved in the 48 Hour Marathon, which was incredible to be a part of! Hopefully this will encourage everyone within Surge to have as much fun as possible this year and get even more nominations next year”.
The prestigious award is supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global and is considered to be a significant accolade for students wanting to break into the broadcasting industry.
The winners will be announced at Indigo2, London on November 5th.
