Union Upgrade: The future of your Union
As some of you may now be aware, this year your Students’ Union is embarking on a significant review of some of its key areas. The project, which will be known as ‘Union Upgrade’, will include a review of the following:
- SUSU Brand
- Democracy
- Volunteering
- Student Communities (including International review, Halls Committee review and WSA review)
We are run by students, for students, but we want to go that step further and ensure that every single one of you is involved in how we are run.
Therefore, the Union Upgrade is taking place in line with our Vision 2020, a strategic plan designed to increase our relevance and engagement with you. The face of the Union has changed dramatically over the years and it is time to respond to that change. We want to develop a brand that recognises the diversity of our members and improve our services to answer the needs of the entire student body.
In short, we want to be a Union you can all identify with.

This may seem like a lot of change, but rest assured – we will be listening to your views every step of the way to ensure you lead each decision that gets made. We will also be communicating every change as we make progress so you are involved at every stage. We are excited about building a better Union that works for you in the way you want – we hope you are too!
