Christmas is coming: Xmas Light Switch On

In General

Reading Time: < 1 minute

We are working in partnership with the University of Southampton to deliver the annual Christmas Light Switch On!

Join us on Monday 16th November at 4pm! The afternoon kicks off with a Christmas market on the Red Brick area where you can find the perfect gifts and festive foods to help you on your way to sorting your Xmas shopping. At 4.30pm, you can enjoy Christmas carols performed by the University brass band, or live acoustic music in The Bridge. At 6pm, Adam Wheeler, the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor will switch-on the Christmas lights. Joining him on our outdoor stage, on the grassed area opposite the Hartley Library, will be members of our winning Enactus World Cup team from their recent victory in South Africa. From 6.10pm, you can enjoy some live music from The Big Town Boppers until 19:00, on the outdoor stage. Finally, you can relax for the rest of the evening by browsing around the Christmas market until 8pm, or watch the band perform again in The Stag’s before Christmas Karaoke from 9pm.

Every student and staff member will get a FREE Christmas drink by registering for the event here.

Make sure you have your QR code available to view on your phone or have a printed copy of your ticket. You can exchange this from 4pm on the day at one of the drinks outlets (The Bridge, The Stag’s or one of the two outside bars).

Please note that the complimentary drink is limited to one drink per person. Tickets will be scanned in exchange for each drink. You may also be asked to show your University ID, so please bring this along. We suggest that you don’t leave this to the last minute, as there is a limited supply of drinks available.

Make sure you join the Facebook event here.
