Free, Simple Ways to Keep Fit That You Can Fit Around Your Student Life
Undoubtedly some of you may have taken the Christmas break as a chance to feast and indulge, and why not? Then comes the typical New Year’s Resolution: stay healthy and keep fit. You can certainly fit this resolution around your busy timetables, without having to break the bank so no more excuses, here are a few tips!
Walk Everywhere
Skip the bus and walk whenever possible! Even better, power walk, you’d be surprised at how many calories you can burn in just half an hour! If you need to take the bus for longer distances, try getting off one or two stops earlier and walking the rest of the way. If it is dark and you feel that you want to walk, don’t go alone. Call up a friend and use it as an opportunity to catch up while you exercise!
Home Exercises
Do some workouts in the comfort of your own home! Get your friends and flatmates involved, head over to YouTube and throw on a good fitness video! Men and women usually have different goals when it comes to fitness and exercise so ladies, we recommend trying Blogilates or Fitness Blender, gentlemen try SixPackShortcuts or ScottHermanFitness
Take the Stairs
Don’t push that lift button! Ignoring those inviting metal lift doors and taking the stairs are a great workout for your legs; try taking them two at a time!
Run Outside!
A gym membership can be pricey, so skip the treadmill and take a morning job outside! Bring a running buddy with you for safety and moral support and have a running playlist ready to give you that extra boost!
Ditch the Shopping Trolley
Next time you’re out on a grocery shop, try carrying a basket instead of pushing a trolley around. It’s a great workout for the arms! This goes without saying but, only carry what you can…if it’s a big shop and your basket becomes filled with a whole chicken, several packs of meat, 10 bottles of Sprite and a sack of potatoes…you might need that trolley.
We hope that these tips have been useful and that you have picked up some new ideas to try. The key thing is to get outside and find ways to adapt your current routine to keep fit for free!
