Student Parents – Eggscellent Ways to Spend the Easter break

If you’re a student parent, the Easter break is likely to be far from a relaxing holiday with your friends. With little ones to entertain and work to get done, you’ll be grateful to get back to Uni…until now! To help you out, we have scoured local events listings and looked up everything you need to know to have the Easter break you and your family deserve. 

1. A Crafty Easter

  • When?: Sunday 20th March
  • What time?: 11am-3pm
  • Where?: Pavilion on the Park, 1 Kingfisher Road, SO50 9LH Eastleigh
  • Cost: FREE

This event is perfect for the early birds (sorry, we couldn’t resist) among you who simply can’t wait for Easter! Whether your children are full of beans or they prefer getting stuck into crafty projects, this event has a good mix of both. With a bouncy castle, soft play chill out area and tonnes of arty Easter-themed things for your child to make, it seems as though it can’t get any better, except it did…it’s FREE entry! Register your free place on Eventbrite here. 2. Easter Fair

  • When?: Thursday 24th March – Sunday 3rd April
  • What time?: 12noon – 9.30pm
    Bank Holiday Monday 28 March 10am – 9.30pm
  • Where?: Southampton Common
  • Cost: There is an admission fee, not currently listed on their website.

Let them burn off energy from all that chocolate with a trip to the Easter Fair. With thrilling fairground rides and the traditional Bank Holiday market to browse around on the Monday, there is something for everyone. Bear in mind that that there is no car parking on the Common, so you will need to park in the city centre. Want to know more information? Find out more here. 3. Easter Trail – Charlie the Lost Chick

  • When?: Friday 25th March – Thursday 31st March
  • What time?: 10am-4.30pm
  • Where?: Royal Victoria Country Park, The Park Office, Victoria Road, SO31 5GA Netley
  • Cost: £2 per trail

Pick up the self-guided trail from the shop between 10am-3.30pm and help Charlie the lost chick on his adventures around the park to find his mum for a chance to win a prize! For just £2, this is a great chance to get in the fresh Spring air and explore the beautiful surroundings of Royal Victoria Country Park. Find out more and join the Facebook event here.

4. Minecraft Blocks

  • When?: Tuesday 29th March
  • What time?: 10am-1pm
  • Where?: Southampton City Art Gallery, Civic Centre Road, Southampton SO14 7LP
  • Cost: £12 – You must book in advance

If you’re children have got Easter eggs coming out of their ears, this is the perfect opportunity to fill up their holidays with a hobby that they’ll love. Have a go at making and modelling your own 3D Minecraft blocks and by the end of the session, bring home your very own screen shot. At the slightly pricier end of £12 a session, this is the perfect activity for slightly older, creative kids who love their screen time. Find out more here.

 

5. Quacky Races

  • When?: Tuesday 5th April
  • What time?: 11am
  • Where?: The White Swan, Mansbridge Road, SO18 3HW Southampton
  • Cost: £3

If you’re already booked up this Easter, this is a great opportunity to do something a bit different later in the Easter season! Join in the Easter fun by taking part in a duck race! Purchase a numbered rubber duck for just £3 each and watch them on their journey down the river towards Woodmill, after their grand launch from the bridge by the White Swan pub at 11:30am. Will your duck be the winner? Get your ducks from Suzie Weller (odd numbers) or Laura Weller (even numbers). They MAY also be available to purchase on the day depending on how many are sold, but get yours in advance to avoid disappointment. Find out more and join the Facebook event here.

6. Animal T-shirt Printing

  • When?: Wednesday 6th April
  • What time?: 10am-3.30pm
  • Where?: Southampton City Art Gallery, Civic Centre Road, Southampton SO14 7LP
  • Cost: £18 – You must book in advance

Get the chance to make your very own animal printing block and produce your own t-shirt design to take home. *Under 8’s will need an adult for the session’s duration. This is a great activity for slightly older children who love their arty activities. Find out more here.
