Shift Your Stuff

In General

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Over your time at uni, it is likely that you have accumulated a lot of stuff. Whether it is clothes, furniture, books or boxsets, when it comes to packing up your room for the summer, you may find that you have a little more than you anticipated. That’s why we are running our annual Shift Your Stuff campaign, where you can donate your unwanted items and we will organise for them to go to one of fifteen participating charities.

How does it work?

  1. Collect your stickers and red bag

Available from between 31 May-29 June from the Union’s Highfield Reception , Avenue Campus Reception and NOC Student Centre.

2. Pack your stuff

Pack your stuff into the following categories and label the bags with the stickers provided:

  • Clothes and footwear
  • Other textiles, bed linen and duvets
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Homeware
  • Unopened tinned and dried food
  • Books, discs, games and jewellery

(We don’t accept sharp knives, liquids or perishable foods, electronics and bulky items.)

3. Shift your Stuff

If you are in the catchment area, you can leave the bag outside your house for it to be picked up from your doorstep. Bags must be outside before 11:00 on Friday 10 June and Thursday 30 June and make sure your red bag is easy to see )although you can use other traditional black bags with the stickers too).

Bags without visible stickers will not be collected.
