Freshers’: Global Speed Meet
Are you an international student joining us this year? Worried about meeting new people, whether you are international student or not? Perhaps you’re just a friendly person and want to meet a range of new people? Well there’s nothing to worry about, because we have organised the Global Speed Meet, with the aim of helping you to meet new people from different cultures in a relaxed environment for FREE.
The idea of speed meeting people goes back a long way, and is based on a simple premise that you have a very short period of time with someone to introduce yourself and see if you ‘click’ with the other person. Normally this all happens within 30-60 seconds, which is long enough to ask a few questions and break the ice. You can start with anything from ‘What course do you study?’ to asking them about their favourite colour to deep and meaningful topics! It’s also a great way of meeting a load of new people in a short space of time, and you’ll all be feeling the same nervousness, so there is nothing to lose!
No matter who you are, the Global Speed Meet is a free event that is open to everyone and anyone! Taking place on the Concourse, just as you enter the Union (Building 42, Highfield campus), you’ll be able to join the fun any time between 11:00 and 13:00 on Monday 03 October. No pre-registration is necessary, simply turn up for a fun time speed meeting lots of new people!
