Penny Pinching for National Student Money Week
National Student Money Week runs between the Monday 06 – Friday 10 February. Students’ Unions all over the country are running events to give you tips and advice on how to stretch those pennies a little bit further. Whether it is by planning your food shop by using a list or opening a separate bank account to help you save – we’re interested in hearing what you do, so we can share ideas to other students. Tweet us your best ideas @Union_Soton.
But that’s not all. We’ll be travelling around the different campuses, holding competition and advice stalls full of nuggets of valuable information to take away. Join us between 10:00-14:00 each day on:
£ Monday 06 February Highfield Concourse
£ Tuesday 07 February Avenue Foyer Corridor
£ Wednesday 08 February WSA Café
£ Thursday 09 February NOC Foyer Corridor
Competition Time
Take part in the following stall competitions for a chance to win one of these great prizes:
£ Shopping basket price comparison: Guess the difference in price between branded and non-branded items. Whoever is closest can win the shopping basket.
£ Payday loan: Guess the number of jelly beans in the jar. Find out the difference in interest rates between payday loans compared to your student finance. Whoever is closest to the correct amount wins the jelly beans.
£ Money saving tree: Share your best money saving tips and get a chance to take away a batter mix and lemon for Pancake Day.
The Student Support Fund team will also be there to tell you more about our hardship fund, so if you find yourself in a difficult financial situation, you know how we can help.
Keep up-to-date with all the latest information on the official Facebook event.
