Get your voice heard to help the University to improve the student experience

In General

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The university currently has a number of key surveys out at the moment, designed to improve the student experience across a range of areas.

Whether you are a PGR, PGT or an undergrad, make sure you get your voice heard by completing one of the following surveys:

Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES)

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from postgraduate research students about their learning and supervision experience. The feedback from this survey will help to improve the experience for our postgraduate research students. If you are a PGR student, you will shortly receive an email from the University with a unique link to complete the survey.

Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)

The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from taught postgraduate students about their learning and teaching experience. The feedback from this survey will help to improve the experience for our postgraduate students who are undertaking taught courses. If you are a PGT student, you will receive the link in your email inbox, so make sure you check it.

National Student Survey (NSS)

The NSS is for final year students to complete before the 30 April. The feedback you give will help us and the University to make improvements for the coming year. You may not think that the results affect students, but the year before you will have completed it and helped us to make changes for your year. Make sure you have your say to leave a legacy before you graduate, by filling it in at www.thestudentsurvey.co.uk.

Southampton Student Survey

This survey is for second year students and replicates the NSS survey. This means that you can have your say and see the effect of the changes during your final year. It only takes a few minutes to fill out and it will mean that you can see the improvements during what many consider to be their most significant year at uni. You can complete the survey here.

Aside from an improvement in the student experience, what’s in it for me?

We know that completing surveys may not seem like a barrel of laughs, so the University have developed an incentive scheme to make it worth your while. For every completed response (up to a maximum of 10,000), the University will make a £1 donation to the Student Support Fund.
