Brand New 44-Seat Bus for WSA Students!

In General

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We are delighted to announce that a brand new 44-seat bus will be replacing the smaller WSA shuttle bus from Monday 18 September.

Following the success of the WSA shuttle bus, and our ongoing lobbying with the University, the University have introduced a larger, more regular bus, that will allow more WSA students to travel between our Highfield and Winchester campuses. This is something which many of you have asked for, so we’re extremely pleased that it has been put into action. The larger bus will enable more WSA students to make the most out of everything we have to offer at Highfield.

The bus will run Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 23:00, and will operate an hourly service during term-time, with stops at Erasmus Park and Riverside Way in the evening too. The bus will pick-up and drop off at the following locations:

  • Southampton – the Highfield Bus Interchange, just off University Road, Southampton
  • Winchester (WSA) – the bus stop on North Walls, Winchester, opposite Upper Brook Street
  • Winchester (Erasmus Park-evenings only) – Easton Lane, Winchester, just past the entrance to Erasmus Park and opposite Jewsons

Arun Aggarwal, our VP Communities said: “The Union has been lobbying the University for a better, more frequent service, in response to a huge amount of student feedback that we have received, and I am pleased that they have acted upon it. The new bus fills a demand for WSA students to be able to get more involved with activities, campaigns and societies in Southampton, and vice versa. If you have any more ideas or comments that the Union may be able to aid with, please email me at vpcommunities@susu.org, or tweet me, @SotonVPSC”.

You can put forward any ideas you have to improve the Union and wider community on our You Make Change website.
