Becoming a Full-Time Officer is a unique way to develop your strengths and abilities, and you’ll gain skills in a range of areas including: leadership, project and events management, negotiation, public speaking and budgeting. In yesterday’s blog we explored the roles of Union President and VP Welfare. Today it’s time to find out a bit more about VP Engagement and VP Education…


VP Engagement

Passionate about volunteering and fundraising? Social media whizz? Keen to give Freshers’ the best welcome to Southampton?

As VP Engagement, you’ll work closely with our External Engagement Coordinator to develop projects and campaigns to encourage student involvement in volunteering and fundraising initiatives. You will take the lead and support RAG to help them achieve their fundraising goals and assess our enterprise activities to develop a programme to help boost students’ employability. Other aspects of the role includes leading the Halls Committees and working with the Marketing and Communications team to engage with students online – a great opportunity for you to utilise your social media expertise!

VP Education

Keen to enhance our members educational experience? Passionate about defending and looking after their academic interest?

This role involves representing students by sitting on and/or chairing relevant committees and meetings within the Union and the University. You’ll work closely with our Education Zone and Coordinators and be the first point of contact between the Students’ Union and the University for all educational and academic matters. Our Student Leaders and Academic Reps will depend on you for support and you’ll equip them with the tools and skills to represent students’ interests to the best of their ability.
