VP Education takes up new role with the Office for Students

The University of Southampton Students’ Union are pleased to announce that our VP Education Samuel Dedman has been successful in his application to sit on the Office for Students’ Student Panel. This role runs until 28 February 2020, and will be completed alongside Samuel’s duties as VP Education here at Southampton.

The Office for Students is the independent public body that regulates higher education in England, aiming to ensure that every student, whatever their background, has a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers’. The Student Panel is a core part of its work, advising the board on strategy, activity and ensuring student input into their work.

When asked about his appointment, Samuel said “I am absolutely thrilled to accept this role, taking my experiences from Southampton and using them to help improve the experience of students across the higher education sector. I’d like to thank the staff and students at both the University and Union for their support throughout the application process, and look forward to what the comings years bring!”

Samuel’s acceptance of this role was approved by the Union’s Senate by a round-robin following their last meeting.
