AU Ball 2019: Non-Dining Tickets Now On Sale

Celebrate the achievements of Team Southampton with an evening of awards and entertainment at our Athletic Union Awards Ball on Friday 17 May, at St. Mary’s Stadium.

WhatUni Awards: The Results Are In

We are thrilled to announce our Students’ Union has been rated 16th in the UK by our students in the 2019 WhatUni Student Choice Awards! This means we have risen by 14 places since the 2018 awards.

We have also been rated 9th in the UK for our Clubs and Societies offering for the second year in a row!

The University of Southampton has also been rated 5th in the UK for the overall Postgraduate experience, which is a huge 55 places higher than last year.

University of Southampton now offers extended parental leave for postgraduate students

The University Executive Board has approved an extension to the Maternity and Shared Parental Leave policy for doctoral researchers.

Following a meeting on 26th November 2018, the University Executive Board (UEB) approved an agreed Policy for Maternity Pay and Shared Parental Leave for doctoral researchers at the University of Southampton.

The University Policy covers maternity, paternity or shared parental leave. Students covered by the policy are entitled to 52 weeks of leave.

Meet the student behind Medicine Faculty’s new consent workshops

After feeling uninformed of the support available to her at university, fourth-year student, Sarah teamed up with SUSU, SCA Society and MedSoc to introduce new consent workshops to the Faculty of Medicine.

“Unfortunately, during my years of university, I have been raped. When this happened, I felt alone and uninformed of the support available at university. I felt that educational systems had failed to educate my colleague on what consent means and how it applies to our lives,” says Sarah.
