Home Office allows student to complete exams after SUSU appeal over Visa issue
One of our students, who was facing ‘significant’ Visa issues, has been allowed to stay to finish their exams in Southampton after VP Communities, Emily Harrison appealed on their behalf in a letter to the Home Office.
Emily says: “I’m delighted to update that the Home Office has now allowed the student to stay to complete their final exams here at Southampton. I am so pleased that there has been a positive outcome and happy to have been able to have a positive impact on the life of this student.”
“This is exactly what Sabbatical Officers are elected to do, to help make a positive difference to students, and it was the greatest privilege to be in a position to help in this situation.”
Emily met with Alan Whitehead, MP for Southampton Test, to discuss support for our student and they, together with the University’s Vice President International, sent the letter to the Home Office last month.
