This Summer, our Boat Club will be cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours to raise as much money as possible for national charity, Breast Cancer Now.

The team of 23 students will undertake the 242 mile (390 kilometres) journey from London to Newhaven, where they will catch the evening Ferry to Dieppe on the 09 July, through to Paris, where they aim to arrive in the late afternoon on 10 July.

“We are doing this cycle to really challenge ourselves to push through the fatigue of cycling the distance to Paris and the added time pressure of doing so in 24 hours. We are aiming to raise £10,000 for Breast Cancer Now, a charity that funds vital research into breast cancer” says team member, Martyn Matt.

The team have chosen to fundraise for Breast Cancer now as a number of members and their families have been closely affected by breast cancer. “The challenge we are taking on doesn’t come close to the challenge cancer brings to all who it affects, but we hope that we can raise awareness and funds to support those who are suffering and to beat cancer sooner.” You can donate to the SUBC cycle by clicking here.
