The Plant Pot Now Open!
Our new hub of sustainable living unfurls its vines on Monday 23 September, in Level 3 of Building 42.
The Plant Pot will exclusively serve tasty vegan and vegetarian food options, as well as offering a zero waste shop and sustainable lifestyle items available to buy.
Delicious Vegan and Vegetarian Food
We’ve had a sneak peek of the menu and there are lots of delicious options to choose from: sandwiches, wraps, pies, salads and pasties as well as hot meals. We can’t wait to try the Sweet Potato Curry, Chilli Tacos and Wild Mushroom Pasta. There’s also beef-style burgers and chicken-style nuggets if you’re craving fast food. Make sure to pop down and browse the menus for yourself during opening week.
The Plant Pot will continue the popular offering of the Full English Breakfast* in the form of its Full Vegan Breakfast cousin throughout breakfast times!
Breakfast available between 08:00-11:00
Grab-and-go hot food available between 11:00-14:00
Lunch available between 12:00-14:00
Grab-and-go sandwich, wrap and salad options available throughout the day.
(*never fear, for those worried about missing out on their non-vegan breakfast options these will now be available in The Bridge, Building 42).
Sustainable Student Shopping
Alongside its food and drink options, The Plant Pot offers a zero waste shop selling dried goods and snacks. These are available from zero waste dispensers, therefore ‘dispensing’ with the need for plastic. Instead you can fill paper bags with your chosen items. Pricing is per 100g of produce.
Other sustainable lifestyle items such as bamboo toothbrushes and metal straws will also be sold here. For those interested in living sustainably The Plant Pot provides it all.
In an interview with the Wessex Scene, Union President Emily Harrison said of The Plant Pot:
“Increasingly, student feedback showed that students wanted more veggie and vegan options. We also know that sustainability is becoming a priority for students. Therefore, it made sense to use this opportunity to change the offer of The CafĂ© to match this.”
The Plant Pot is located on Level 3 of Building 42.
