The Academic Elections are coming

The election of Sabbatical and Student Officers in this years Spring Election on the 06 March will leave some senior empty positions within our academic representation structure. As a result, the Academic Elections will follow to fill our remaining academic officer positions.

Positions to be elected:

Engineering and Physical Sciences Faculty Officer

Will you help the Wessex Scene fund a special issue?

In General

The Wessex Scene are raising money to print a special edition of their magazine titled ‘Poverty & Class’ and need your help to fund the costs of printing.

This special edition will raise awareness of how issues like class divisions and poverty impact people on a local, national and international scale. 

Currently they have raised £500 of their £800 goal, and need to reach £600 in order for all of the money that has already been donated to not be automatically refunded to donors.

All Student Vote – The Result

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this All Student Vote about the upcoming industrial strike action.

2,541 students voted. The voting breakdown is as follows:

I would like SUSU to support the cause and the action – 37%
I would like SUSU to support the cause but not the action – 35%
I do not want SUSU to support the cause or the action – 28%

Basketball Club All-Star Event is Back!

All Student Vote: UCU Strike Action

In News

On Friday 14 February 2020 dates were confirmed of upcoming strike action by UCU. This is happening as part of a national dispute over the issues of pay, workload and pensions of a significant amount of University staff, including PGRs. As a result, the Students’ Union are holding a vote for students to decide whether we should support the strike action.

The vote is open from now until 16:00 on Wednesday 19 February 2020 and only takes about 30 seconds to complete.

The Safety Bus is now FREE to use!

You heard that right, from now on the Safety Bus will be free to use whether you find yourself at Highfield campus for one of our events or have stayed late to study!

The service will run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 22:00 – 02:00. Pickup location is on the Redbrick area (outside The Stag’s).
