The current environment has allowed repugnant fraudsters to target our most vulnerable in a range of scams which, as of 20 March 2020, have led to approximately £960,000 being stolen from individuals. The City of London Police have reported a 400% increase in coronavirus-related scams and 105 crimes have been reported to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for crime and cyber-crime. 55 members of SUNC took part in the fundraising challenge from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 April, covering a total of 1846km in running and 146km in cycling.
The total raised stands at £4,460 as of 28 April, but it’s increasing all the time and has far exceeded their original goal of £2,500!

UPDATE: As of 17:00 on Thursday 07 May 2020 the Online Learning Grant will be closed to new applications. If you have already submitted an application, this will still be processed and you will receive an outcome via email within 10 working days. The Online Learning Grant has received a very high level of applications and has provided funding to over 1200 students.

Congratulations to our Ladies Lacrosse 1st Team, who played Exeter 5ths on Wednesday 11 March in the final of the Western Conference Cup, winning with a score of 19-7! Their Club Captain, Amy, tells us more about their achievements this year…
Our Ladies 1st Team have won their league this year with a clean sheet! Seeing scores against Bournemouth 1st 15-3, Plymouth 1st 15-5 and UWE 1st 15-5.
Our team have worked hard this year, through both team bonding and training, to see our team move up the league, and ultimately push Southampton into higher levels of Lacrosse.

Our VP Activities and Volunteering and Fundraising Officer have put together a list of ways you can volunteer during this crisis, while still maintaining social distancing. Volunteering can be a great way to feel productive and make yourself socialise if you’re feeling lonely. But, there is absolutely no requirement or moral pressure to volunteer if you do not have the emotional, mental or physical capacity to do so. You’re allowed to use this time just for you, and staying inside will help lots of people too!

Congratulations to Soutampton RAG who have been shortlisted for Best Collaboration in the National Societies & Volunteering Awards 2020! The nomination is for their Fight Night event, which was held on Saturday 30 November 2019 in collaboration with SUABC (Southampton Amateur Boxing Club).
