Ladies Lacrosse Win League and Western Conference Cup!
Congratulations to our Ladies Lacrosse 1st Team, who played Exeter 5ths on Wednesday 11 March in the final of the Western Conference Cup, winning with a score of 19-7! Their Club Captain, Amy, tells us more about their achievements this year…
Our Ladies 1st Team have won their league this year with a clean sheet! Seeing scores against Bournemouth 1st 15-3, Plymouth 1st 15-5 and UWE 1st 15-5.
Our team have worked hard this year, through both team bonding and training, to see our team move up the league, and ultimately push Southampton into higher levels of Lacrosse.
In other news, our Ladies Lacrosse 2nd Team have also had a fantastic year, seeing wins against Marjon’s 1st 17-7 and UWE 2nd 14-2, finishing the league at 6th. Moving up two places in the league since last year!
Our Development Team consists of girls who have picked up Lacrosse this year. It has been amazing to see their Lacrosse improve, and their love for the sport increase so quickly. The team has competed at two developmental tournaments in Bristol. Playing University development teams such as Bath, Plymouth and Bournemouth.
Overall, we are really proud of our successes this year as a club. Ladies Lacrosse hopes to increase participation into the sport. We want to encourage many more to pick up Lacrosse, with all abilities welcome! We have always tried to create a fun atmosphere, in which the sport is important, but having fun and supporting each other is vital.
In light of the current situation, the girls of SULLC would like to send our love to all of our members, friends and family. We are super proud of our members who are volunteering within the NHS. Thank you to all frontline workers, and to everybody in the University currently supporting the students at Southampton.
Also, a big thank you to our committee for making lockdown more fun through weekly fitness/stick skills challenges and virtual quiz socials!
As a club, we are fundraising for NHS together, by collectively running the length of the UK, 1100Km, and have currently raised over £950. Any donations, big or small would be hugely appreciated. Check out their JustGiving page here: SULLC Run the Length of the UK – 1100km!
