UPDATE: As of 17:00 on Thursday 07 May 2020 the Online Learning Grant will be closed to new applications. If you have already submitted an application, this will still be processed and you will receive an outcome via email within 10 working days. The Online Learning Grant has received a very high level of applications and has provided funding to over 1200 students.

SUSU have worked with the University to successfully secure a fund for students to buy equipment and other products you may need to enable you to study from home!

This fund is open to ALL Undergraduate and Postgraduates, and every student can receive a maximum of £300. This money is a grant so will not have to be repayed.

To access the funding, visit the University’s Student Support Fund page and follow the steps under ‘Online Learning Grant’ – University of Southampton Student Support Fund.

SUSU have also repurposed financial help from the University of £1,300 from the WIDE (Welfare, Inclusion, Diversity and Equality) training to be donated to the scheme.

Can I apply for a learning support grant?

All students can apply for a grant of up to £300 and the fund is open both to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

When will I know if I have been awarded?

We are aiming to get through the applications as quickly as possible and will assess each application as it is received.

I need equipment which costs more than the £300 offered, can I top this up with my own money?

You can use this money to purchase equipment which is slightly more expensive however if you do have the money available please ensure that you consider students who may be less able to purchase their own equipment before you apply.

Will I need to provide receipts proving purchase?

We may be in contact with students to request proof of purchase for the equipment and if you are unable to provide this may request the funding to be repaid.
