Islamic Society awarded for Charity Week fundraising

The team received two awards from Islamic Relief for their recent Charity Week fundraising after they raised an incredible £17,743.37. 

Islamic Society received the Crystal award for the ‘most unique event’ after they held a plant sale on the Redbrick, as well as being awarded the ‘best display of unity’. “This is considered to be the most prestigious award, which we received for our Reading vs Surrey vs Southampton charity football tournament” the team says.

Success for Midwifery Students Over New Uniforms

Student feedback success! Midwifery students recently campaigned for new tunic uniforms, which was granted to new Midwifery students starting in September 2018. Following further student feedback, it has now been agreed all Midwifery students (apart from those in their final year) will receive three sets of the new style uniforms.


Midwifery Department President, Jenny Fowles, explained this further in a recent Facebook post to the SUSU Environmental and Life Sciences Reps page, which we have shared below:

Ice Rink Coming to SUSU Redbrick

An ice-skating rink is coming to SUSU’s Redbrick. 

The ice rink will be open on the Redbrick from Tuesday 04 December through to Saturday 08 December and also available throughout the evening at The Christmas Ball.

Sessions will be 45 minutes long and will run from: 14:00 to 21:00 Tuesday-Friday and 12:00 to 18:00 Saturday.

Sessions cost £4.50 + 50p Booking Fee and will be available to book via the SUSU Box Office, online and at reception.

Children are welcome to take part.

2018 Jailbreak winners reach New York

Start spreadin’ the news… This year’s Jailbreak winners travelled an incredible 3,419 miles, managing to reach New York in their bid to get as far away from Southampton as possible without spending any of their own money. 

Student teams started off from rainy Southampton at 8:00 AM Saturday morning and raced across the country to catch lifts, trains and flights in a bid to get as far away as they could in 36 hours, all in the name of charity. SUSUtv will be broadcasting live for six hours as part of ‘Big Live’, a 24-hour live stream fundraising event on Friday 30 November 2018.

KTV (Kent Union’s student TV station) are hosting a 24-hour live stream for the charity ‘Books 2 Africa‘, which was set up by University of Kent Alumni. KTV are collaborating with Forge TV at the University of Sheffield, and our very own SUSUtv!
