We are aware that a number of students are facing challenges with regards to their accommodation for the coming academic year. We are in daily dialogue with senior University management on this issue and have been doing everything we possibly can through our Advice Centre and Lettings Agency to help students find accommodation. Over December and the course of this week we have been having discussions with the University regarding rebates for University halls accommodation. Following a student led petition, in December SUSU launched an All Student Vote on this issue.
A total of 2,704 votes were received with 95% of students voting to support the statement ‘The University should offer a partial refund of halls accommodation fees to all students in University halls.’ This turnout is over the 10% quoracy required for SUSU All Student Votes.

Although we recognise that circumstances have been beyond the University’s control, if students have followed Government guidance they will have left halls early in December and returned late in January, so it is unfair that they should pay halls accommodation fees for that period.
