Through the Special Considerations and Extension Deadlines Policy you may be allowed:

  • An extension on a deadline
  • A second attempt at an assessment or exam
  • Other recommended action based on the evidence which you provide

Union Southampton raises awareness of student mental health at Student Support Symposium conference

Yesterday evening saw the first Student Support Symposium at The Bridge to raise staff and student awareness of existing support services available to University of Southampton students.

As well as raising awareness of support, the Symposium was intended to let people hear about students’ first-hand experiences of mental ill health and to start working towards a ‘One Click’ system, where you will you will be guided through a series of questions online to reach the appropriate support quickly.

Be aware of phishing scams

In General

There is a new phishing scam which is targeting students via email.

If you receive an email claiming that you have won an education grant from the Department of Education, please do not click on any links or submit any of your details.

If you, or anyone you know, have been affected by this fraud or any other scam, report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040 or visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk.

Don’t forget that our Advice Centre (open Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00) is always on hand to offer you support on a variety of different issues.

Cyber-Bullying: What it is and how you can be supported

What is it?

Cyber bullying is any sort of bullying which takes place online. This could be through social networking sites (such as Facebook), messaging apps or gaming sites. In a recent national bullying survey taken by Bullying UK, 56% of young adults said that had witnessed other people being bullied online, with 42% saying they felt unsafe online.

Examples of Cyber Bullying:

Easter Opening Times

In General

We bet you can’t wait for the Easter break – 2016 seems to be flying by and it isn’t long to go now.

The break starts from Sunday 20 March 2016 and will last until Sunday 17 April 2016.

 

SUSU opening times:

The University will be open throughout the break apart from the Easter weekend – 25-28 March, followed by the closure days on Tuesday and Wednesday, 29-30 March 2016.
