International Women’s Day is celebrated globally in recognition of the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
The first ever International Women’s Day events took place in 1911, when more than 1 million men and women attended rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. This year SUSU has once again teamed up with the University of Southampton to arrange an entire week’s worth of International Women’s Day events.
