On Thursday 29 November 2018 we held our first Making Change Summit of the academic year, and our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Our AGM is a legally required meeting to approve the accounts for the Students’ Union, appoint the auditors and consider other governance matters. It requires 250 students to have registered a proxy vote online or be present in-person in order to be a valid meeting.  This year we had 270 voters, although not all of these voted for every point on the agenda.

Specific matters that were approved at the AGM include the decision that there will be … Read the rest

Amazon Lockers: an update!

In News

Hi everyone, Flora here!

Today I want to talk about an issue that has come up in many different You Make Change submissions and conversations around campus – Amazon Lockers. You may have noticed that they also came up as an action item during the 2016/17 AGM, meaning that as a Union we are mandated to explore getting Amazon Lockers on campus.

The Story So Far:

Following six You Make Change submissions and the votes at the AGM, we have been talking to the University about the possibility of getting Amazon Lockers on campus. In our opinion many of Read the rest

AGM: It’s time to submit your ideas

In General

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is fast approaching on Wednesday 17 May and we are looking for your ideas to discuss on the day.

It can be about absolutely anything you would like to change about our Union – from practical to plain wacky, we’ve heard it all and we’ve made  a number of changes as a result. For example, we made Susu the cat Honorary President as a result of a suggestion from a student at AGM and we’ve included more vegan options in our Union outlets too.

You can submit a suggestion for discussion online before Monday 08 … Read the rest

#SotonAGM Round Up

In General

We held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at The Bridge yesterday (11 May), where you got to openly discuss and vote on the ideas you submitted as part of ‘Change One Thing’.

How did it go?

The AGM was our most successful yet, with a record breaking number of ideas submitted by students (161) and the highest number of student submitted policies (19) than ever before!

Students were able to vote online at www.susu.org/change to make decisions during the AGM and the whole meeting was live streamed by our very own SUSUtv, which meant that you could have your … Read the rest

As part of the this year’s Annual General Meeting at the Union, we’ll be asking every student to suggest one thing they’d like to change. It could be big or small – more water fountains in the library, or campaigning for a better system for student loans.

You can submit your idea online when term starts after Easter.

What happens then?
