Performing Arts Societies’ members scoop 5 nominations at Daily Echo Curtain Call Awards

Five members of our Performing Arts societies were nominated for the Daily Echo’s Curtain Call Awards in January. The Academy Award-style ceremony took place at Southampton’s Grand Harbour Hotel on Friday 27 January with more than 400 actors and theatre lovers in attendance to celebrate the achievements of youth amateur dramatics groups in the South.

The nominations are as follows:

  • Darius Timmerman (Theatre group) for his role as Moses in Animal Farm. Applauded for realising “his inner holy roller perfectly as this preaching crow”.
  • Charlie Randall (Showstoppers) received two nominations for his roles as Paul Muddle in Freelancers and Stephano

Christmas Eve Recon Mission – If you’re really feeling keen, going on a scouting mission on Christmas Eve can be a great way to prepare for the sales. Check the back of labels in your fave stores for any markings or numbers which suggest they’ll be going in the sale! Most shops mark everything on Christmas Eve in preparation for Boxing Day.

Rainbow Love: Southampton Pride is Back!

This Sunday 28 August sees the return of Southampton Pride, the city’s biggest celebration of LGBT+ equality.

Celebrations will commence on West Marlands Road (outside the Stage Door) from 11:00 on Sunday, with live music from midday. The party is set to continue through the evening at the official after party at The Edge & Box Bar.

The Community Parade will leave the Stage Door at 15:00, heading around Guildhall Square and down Above Bar Street to the Bargate.

Grad Ball wristband collection before 20:00 today

Congratulations if you’ve secured a ticket to tonight’s SOLD OUT Grad Ball 2016 at 02 Guildhall, Southampton. We can’t wait for what will be one of the biggest nights of your uni experience! But first, you need to convert your online ticket confirmation to wristbands. You can collect your wristband at the Union reception in Building 42 before 20:00 today.

NB: You MUST bring your I.D in order to collect as this will be scanned and validated upon collection. No I.D = No collection.
