Student Scouts win Southampton City Queen’s Scout Award

In General

Four students from our Scout Society have won the Southampton City Queen’s Scout Award on 22-23 April at Windsor Castle.

Ben McDonagh, Tom Candy, Henry Hick and Oli Bills were all recognised with the award at the celebration event, which included a parade to mark St. George’s Day.

The award is the highest youth award within Scouting, available only to those aged 18-25 who complete a big set of challenges, similar to DofE. The Queen’s Scout award involves Scouts taking on and committing to a new skill, physical activity and volunteering service for a year or more, undertaking a self-sustained … Read the rest

The EVAs Awards shortlist is now live

After much consideration, we are pleased to announce the shortlisted students for our Excellence in Volunteering (EVAs) Awards.

The quality of nominations was extremely high and we had a tough job whittling down the longlist, but we are excited to announce the award winners at our ceremony on Friday 12 May at 19:00 in The Cube.

Awards Ceremonies update

In General

Thank you to everyone who nominated someone deserving for one of our awards.

We received a total of 181 nominations for our Excellence in Volunteering Awards (EVAs), which have been carefully whittled down to a shortlist of 66 entries.

You can view the shortlist of EVAs nominees here.

The EVAs are taking place on 6th May in The Cube. Find out more by joining the Facebook event.

In the sporting world, we’re also excited to confirm that this year’s AU Ball will be appropriately headlined by sporting star and England rugby icon turned DJ, James Haskell.

RAG Awards are coming!

In General

2016 has already been a huge year for RAG, having raised an enormous £4754.87 for charity during The Big Give, boosting their annual running total up to a spectacular £60,616.88, compared to £40,967.53 at the same point last year (correct at the last count in February). We think it’s fair to say that there are many students who deserved to be awarded for this amazing contribution to charity!
