Black History Month is the time for staff, students, societies and the wider community to reflect on, celebrate and learn about Black History.
Every October since 1987, Britain has come together to discuss, celebrate and learn about Black history. Black History Month is incredibly important every year, but with the tragic and tumultuous events of 2020, it is more important than ever before that conversations about race and history take place.

For the second year running, Feminist Society successfully put on a ‘Catwalk4Consent’ a fashion show and accompanying exhibition to raise awareness of sexual consent.
*Trigger Warning: text and photos contain mentions of sexual assault, rape, domestic abuse, child sexual abuse*
The #Catwalk4Consent aims to not only raise awareness but also “deconstruct victim blaming culture” whilst fundraising for local charity, Yellow Door.
FemSoc asked for submissions about people’s experiences with sexual assault. The catwalk then featured models wearing the outfits described in people’s accounts.

It’s nearly time for our annual WSA Halloween pumpkin carving competition!
Get in the spooky spirit with an opportunity to embrace this seasonal tradition for just £1 each – plus, you’ll still have time to make it down to Bedford Place for our Big night Out Halloween special.
You can pick up pumpkins for just £1 at the WSA Cafe on Friday 28 October and creatively carve it. Then come along to the Café on Monday 31 October to allow the judging to commence. Expect FREE refreshments to keep you going!

This year we have lots of events planned to commemorate Black History Month, .
Black History Month is a time to recognise and celebrate the important contributions that people of African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean heritage make to humanity – raising awareness of different cultures and communities, and our events aim to highlight these contributions.
