Voting is now open in our Summer Elections! Voting opens today at 09:00 until Friday 18 May at 16:00.

Vote at: www.susu.org/vote

Make sure to have your say in who you would like to represent you, listen to your ideas and concerns and make sure positive change is made at Southampton.

The following roles can be voted for in our current elections:

  • School Presidents
  • Department Presidents
  • Arts and Humanities Faculty Officer
  • Halls Officer
  • Intra-Mural Officer
  • Student Enterprise Officer

During this round of elections we voted for Academic Reps, Halls Committees and Student Leaders, alongside electing our Halls Committees. Together, these students will work across the University and its various sites to make sure we represent the academic interests of all students, and make your university experience the best it can be.

As you may have heard, our Prime Minister has called a Snap General Election, which means the deadline to register to vote is fast approaching.

It’s really important that students have their say, so make sure you register before the following deadlines:

  • Monday 22 May – Deadline to register to vote
  • Tuesday 23 May – Deadline to register for postal or postal proxy vote
  • Wednesday 31 May – Deadline to register for proxy vote
  • Thursday 08 June – Deadline to register to vote on the day or emergency day postal votes

Surge Radio’s 48 Hour Marathon Returns on Thursday to raise money for Comic Relief

Surge Radio are embarking on their annual 48 hour broadcasting marathon on Thursday to raise money for Comic Relief.

The marathon, which will be broadcast live outside the Union building on the Redbrick, is due to start at midnight on Thursday, ending 48 hours later at 00:00 on Saturday 25 March.

The 40 strong team of volunteers aim to raise £480 for Comic Relief in association with RAG (Raise and Give) society  through a series of competitions, on-air challenges, and games.

Following the All Student Vote in October where you voted to keep the Union Southampton branding with the SUSU name and the recent ideas survey, we have been busy working on the logo redesign based on your feedback. Many of you said that you would like to see more colour on the building signage and a few of you expressed concerns about the cost of the rebrand previously. The Spring Elections results are in!

Thank you to everyone who voted. We had an incredible turnout this year, with 5,963 of you turning out to vote, making up a total of 43,831 individual votes. That works out of 22% of the student population having their say.
