After months of campaigning and debating, the big day is finally here. Make sure you get down to your local polling station, open until 22:00 tonight, to have your say and vote in what will be one of the biggest decisions of this generation.

“My message to all students is please register [to vote] by the 07 June. That is the date, because otherwise older people will be deciding your future for you on the 23 June. You’ve got to register by the 07 June. It’s your decision. It’s your life. You’re going to have a big long future. The opportunities in Europe are there for you. Low cost flights, free roaming charges, healthcare all across Europe is right there now. It could be taken away from you so get registered before the 07 June and vote remain on the 23 June”.

EU Referendum: BritaIN or BrEXIT?

Not sure whether to vote BritaIN or BrEXIT? Here are some of the facts to help you make an informed decision…

Reasons to remain according to Britain Stronger in Europe:

  • 3 million UK jobs are linked to our trade with the EU
  • The UK gets £66 million of investment every day from EU countries
  • For every £1 we put into the EU, we get almost £10 back through increased trade, investment, jobs, growth and low prices
  • Worker’s rights are protected by the EU, such as paid maternity leave and guaranteed holiday leave
  • EU laws protect women’s rights, including equal

SUFST Takes on ‘Formula Student’

Formula Student is described by event organisers as “Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Backed by industry and high profile engineers such as our Patron Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers.”

The competition involves building and testing a race car – a true challenge for any engineer! University of Southampton’s Formula Student Team entered this year, and this is what their PR Officer Jo, had to say:

New Event Launches Saturday

This Saturday 6th October sees the launch of a brand new event at SUSU!

We’re excited to bring you something completely different with The Wonder Emporium, which will be held monthly in The Bridge during term time.
