Over 90 string butterflies and 38 cards created by students during Freshers’ week will now be sent as gifts to seriously ill children in the UK through the charity Post Pals.
During Freshers’ 2018 the Union held Creative Chill Outs at Highfield, Avenue, WSA and NOC campuses. If you wanted a break from the rush of Freshers’ week, these chill outs were for you! A chance to relax, meet new people, grab a snack and create some arts and crafts. This included crafting small butterflies from lolly sticks, string and pipe cleaners, and decorating greetings cards.
Now that you’ve arrived at the University of Southampton and you’re settling into your new home, it’s time to go and meet your housemates and get stuck into Freshers’ here at the Students’ Union! Here are a few top tips to help kick-start your student experience in the best way possible…
1.Don’t hide away in your room
Staying behind closed doors doesn’t exactly encourage conversation – go introduce yourself to your new housemates! Hanging out in the communal kitchen or Hall’s bar is also a good way to settle in.
One of the best ways to celebrate Freshers’ is to chill out and party with your new house mates and course mates! We’ve got something for everyone at Freshers’ this year, whether you want to watch a film, play video games, boogie at a roller disco, test your knowledge at a pub quiz or dance the night away. It’s the perfect chance to make memories you’ll never forget and meet friends for life!
