This Summer, our Boat Club will be cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours to raise as much money as possible for national charity, Breast Cancer Now.
The team of 23 students will undertake the 242 mile (390 kilometres) journey from London to Newhaven, where they will catch the evening Ferry to Dieppe on the 09 July, through to Paris, where they aim to arrive in the late afternoon on 10 July.

10th October is World Mental Health Day, an annual day recognised by The World Health Organisation to provide an opportunity for those working on mental health issues to talk about their work and what more needs to be done. This year’s theme, chosen by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘young people and mental health in a changing world’.

Southampton RAG, our Raise and Give Society, was awarded Top RAG at Breast Cancer Now’s MegaRaid this weekend.
RAG was invited to attend Breast Cancer Now’s big MegaRaid, a large bucket collection across London involving RAG societies from all over the country.
Several different RAGs travelled down to London on Thursday night for the occasion, getting up at 05:00 on Friday morning (20 October) to ask for donations for 12 hours at specific tube stations across the city.

We recently met up with Jack, a third year Marine Biologist who has decided to eat nothing but food waste ahead of running the half marathon next month! Normally, Jack lives a freegan lifestyle 3 days a week – that is, according to good old Oxford Dictionary, someone who: ‘rejects consumerism and seeks to help the environment by reducing waste, especially by retrieving and using discarded food’.

Our very own Southampton RAG team have put in a bid to host the 2017 RAG Conference.
The conference is hosted in a different Union annually to showcase the successes of the year’s fundraising.
The bid comes after RAG announced their 2015-16 fundraising total, which was an incredible £165, 194.05.

Cycling has become an increasingly popular way of getting across campus. It’s free, good exercise and you’re looking after the environment at the same time! To help you out and encourage you to keep on cycling safely, Road Cycling Club (SURC) has been busy raising over £8,000 to fund public bike maintenance stands for you to use across the University.
