All Student Vote (Halls Accommodation Fees) – the result!

Over December and the course of this week we have been having discussions with the University regarding rebates for University halls accommodation. Following a student led petition, in December SUSU launched an All Student Vote on this issue. 

A total of 2,704 votes were received with 95% of students voting to support the statement ‘The University should offer a partial refund of halls accommodation fees to all students in University halls.’ This turnout is over the 10% quoracy required for SUSU All Student Votes.

All Student Vote: Halls Accommodation Fees

Today we have launched an All Student Vote on the following statement:

“The University should offer a partial refund of halls accommodation fees to all students in University halls, to reflect the time that students have not spent in their halls because of the student travel window and the staggered return to campus in January.

Although we recognise that circumstances have been beyond the University’s control, if students have followed Government guidance they will have left halls early in December and returned late in January, so it is unfair that they should pay halls accommodation fees for that period. We

Glen Eyre says Farewell to their 2017-18 residents

Glen Eyre held The Big Summer Farewell on Friday afternoon, and what an afternoon it turned out to be! With free ice-cream and burgers, inflatables, competitive games, live music and a photo booth, there was plenty to make our way around. Best of all, the sun decided to join the party, encouraging everyone to embrace the start of summer. Despite the large amount of students who have already headed home for the holidays, there was a great turnout and wonderful atmosphere.
